Nicole had a loose tooth for the past week or so. Shhhh…..don’t tell her Dentist. Last time Nicole had a loose tooth the Dentist yelled at me because it was loose too long. The second you notice it is loose, it needs to be out within 2 days. Anyways, it finally came out last night while she was just getting into bed. After I got her situated and back into bed and the tooth under her pillow for the tooth fairy, I came downstairs to work a little bit on the computer.
I went to bed around 11, doing my normal bedtime routine. I was so tired I don’t remember even setting the alarm and getting into bed. Around 5:30 I get up to start my workout and Kassie is in the bathroom with a bloody nose. Seeing the blood reminded me about Nicole and her tooth. Crap. The tooth fairy forgot to visit.
There I am, 5:30 am looking for money to give in place of the tooth. I don’t carry cash. Ahhhhh…..I start panicking a bit. She is going to be so disappointed if the tooth fairy doesn’t come again. Yes again. I forgot once before. Yes….bad mommy! The only thing I had in my wallet was some change. Ok. What little kid doesn’t like coins? Then I realized I only had 38 cents. So I look in the laundry room on the dryer for the money that I take out of pockets, hoping that the girls didn’t already collect it. 45 cents. Not enough. So I decide to go out to the car and get more change. I walk outside to the car and scavenge up more coins. I am bent over the seat looking for change under the seat for more money when I hear a car down at the road and someone honking. Oh it’s just the newspaper delivery guy. Then I realize that I am bent over a seat in only a t-shirt and underwear. In all of my excitement of the tooth fairy being a sleepyhead I forgot to get dressed. Well. I bet the newspaper delivery guy is wide awake now.
I was kinda embarrassed and distracted about him seeing me like that and I forgot to count up how much money I gathered and just I stuck it under Nicole’s pillow and took the tooth and began to start my day. A few minutes ago she comes downstairs and says “Mom, the tooth fairy was here. Look how much money I got.” I counted it up and it was $4.55. Crap! Now the next tooth she’ll be expecting $5. Oh well. It was all worth it to see this toothless smile this morning.
