Last week, my family and I got to spend some time at Kalahari Resorts in the Poconos. We all had a blast! There was so much to do. We’re already planning our trip back and we can’t wait. Here’s 5 reasons why I think that you should start planning your trip to Kalahari Resorts in the Poconos.
With all that there is to do, Kalahari managed to stick with their African theme. From the moment that you turn onto their private road, you get this feeling that something marvelous is waiting for you inside.
These elephants where waiting for us in the parking lot.
Once you step inside, you continue to see the theme. When we first walked in the building we all noticed the décor and literally stood there for 5 minutes taking it all in.
“Mom, look at that elephant over there!”
“Look at the rhinoceros!”
“Wow! This place is pretty!”
Every staff member that we encountered was so polite and helpful. When we arrived, we only waited in line to check in for 1 minute. Since it was our first time at the resort, the woman who checked us in took the time to tell us about the resort a little bit, gave us helpful tips, and answered any questions that we had.
My husband and I love that fact that the wristbands that we were given at check-in were good throughout the resort and waterpark. Each of us had a wristband and those wristbands we also our room keys. You simply put you wristband up to the rfd reader on your door and it scans and it unlocks your door. So there are no room ky cards to lose. Your wristband is your key. Sweet! My youngest love the fact that she was able to unlock and open the door by herself.
Obviously the décor didn’t stop when we left the lobby. When we entered our room, this cute elephant shaped towel was waiting for us on the bed.
The room was very spacious for the five of us, with 2 queen-size beds and a pull-out sofa. This beautiful painting was hanging on the wall. We had a microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator, and many other amenities in our room like TV and Wi-Fi.
Kalahari Resorts has a family entertainment center that includes the Laser Frenzy video game and the XD Dark Ride in a 5D movie theater. Also located in the 30,000 square foot arcade center is mini- bowling and blacklight mini golf. I almost forgot to mention that there are many, many arcade games to play.
We spent about 2 hours in the arcade. There was so much to do. We got an arcade card and loaded it up with points. We earned tickets from the games and were able to redeem the tickets for prizes. The girls loved playing Flappy Bird and the Wizard of Oz coin game.
The resort also had a daily schedule of events that the kids could partake in during our stay: design your own flower pot, photo scavenger hunt, make your own putty and many more. Not once did we hear “I’m bored.” My kids say I’m bored many times throughout the day and I didn’t hear it at all.
With six different family-friendly dining options, it was easy to find delicious food for each of us. They even had gluten-free options available for me which was a HUGE deal for me. The food that we had at Pizza Pub, Great Karoo Marketplace Breakfast Buffet and The Last Bite Ice Cream Shoppe was delicious.
They have the largest indoor waterpark in Pennsylvania and Kalahari is currently working on making it the largest indoor waterpark in the country. Kalahari had a great mix of water slides for every age from the little ones to the biggest adventure seekers. There were also thrilling rides for the older kids and adults.
The Flow Rider is great for those who want to feel like their surfing. Emily tried it for the first time and she loved it.
There are 6 water slides, a family whirlpool and a swim-up bar for the adults. We took a trip down Lazy River where you simply float through the waterpark.
Within the waterpark were lockers that you could rent so you could store your belongings. There are also private, indoor cabanas to rent where you can enjoy a flat screen TV, chaise lounges, refrigerator and a security safe.
Kalahari Resorts deals are fantastic. Currently they have several Spring deals going on.

The Family Safari Package includes an overnight stay in a Desert Room for up to 4 guests and admission for each to the waterpark. Also included is breakfast for 2 adults and 2 children in the Great Karoo Buffet Restaurant, 1 pizza and 4 fountain drinks, a $50 arcade credit and more.

Other Reasons to go to Kalahari Resorts
Check in is not until 4PM, but you can start enjoying the water park as early as noon. Simply pre-register at the front desk and they’ll get your wristbands for you for you to enter the waterpark. Then when 4pm comes you can simply go to your room.
They provide towels for you while you’re in the waterpark so that’s one last thing that you need to pack.
Checkout is at 11am and there is no need to visit the front desk to checkout. You’re automatically checked out at 11am. You’re able to stay at the waterpark until 9pm even after you checked out.
We decided to head to the waterpark at 10am. Instead of carrying our entire luggage to the car we were able to keep our luggage with the bell-hop until we were ready to leave. So there was no need for us to venture out into the 30 degrees whether until we were ready to.
