So you know those shirts that say “If mom says ‘no’, ask grandma” or “When all else fails, ask Grandma”? Well, my mom must have one of those shirts and my oldest daughter must’ve seen her wear it. Must have. What other reason would there be for my mom and stepdad to show up at my house Thursday night with 2 Guinea Pigs for my oldest, Kassie?!
Two guinea pigs.
Apparently, Kassie told my mom and stepdad that she wanted a guinea pig. They found some free ones in a local newspaper, called about them, picked them up and brought them to my house.
Two unexpected guinea pigs.
So today I spent about 45 minutes in Petsmart trying to figure out what I needed. Many of the employees who worked there were clueless about what I needed. You’d think that a person that works in a pet store would have knowledge of the items they sell. I asked 3 different people for help and no-one knew what I needed.
Finally I just grabbed what I thought I needed and headed to the register to pay.
The cashier asked my about the items and what I was buying for. I told her “guinea pigs.” Then she told me her recommendations. She was very knowledgeable about guinea pigs.
Finally! Someone who knew what I needed!
Why on Earth would they have their most knowledgeable person at the register?! Why not have her working in the aisles?!
So I went back and replaced the items with her recommendations.
Once Kassie got home from school, it was her responsibility to put the cage together. After everything was put together and the guinea pigs were given fresh water, food and fresh bedding, Kassie asked me to take a picture of her and her new pets.
Even though I was super frustrated and a little mad with the whole situation of my mom and step dad showing up with these critters, I realize that it is worth it because look at how happy Kassie is.
The happiest teenager right here!
